Zachary Galifianakis

Zachary Knight Galifianakis Greek pronunciation born October 1st, 1969) is an American comedian, actor as well as a musician and writer. He appeared on the Comedy Central Presents special and hosted his own show Late World with Zach on VH1. Galifianakis has been in films including The Hangover trilogy (2009-2013), Due Date (2010) and The Campaign (2012). He also appeared in Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance (2014) and Masterminds (2016). Galifianakis has also voiced characters in animated films such as Puss in Boots (2011). Zachary Knight Galifianakis, a North Carolina native, was born October 1, 1969, in Wilkesboro. The actor is the son of Mary Frances (nee Cashion), and Harry Galifianakis, a heating oil dealer. His mother is of Scottish-Irish and English descent, while his paternal grandparents were Greek immigrants from Crete. The baptism was performed according to the Greek Orthodox faith of his father. He has a younger sister, Merritt, and an older brother, Greg. The cousin Nick Galifianakis is a Washington Post cartoonist and his uncle Nick Galifianakis is also a politician. Galifianakis was a student at Wilkes Central High School, and then attended North Carolina State University, where he was a communications major.
