Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams is the daughter of
Sandra Kay (Gale), an Ontario nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams a truck driver
and furniture mover. Her birthplace was in London, Ontario on November 17 in
1978. She is Englishand is Welsh- -, Irish--, and Scottish. Rachel began acting
as an teen. By the age 13 she was participating in Shakespearean productions at
the summer theatre camps. Following graduation, Rachel received a BFA degree
from York University in Theater. After her role in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson
episode (1998) in which she was a lead in Slings and Arrows, a Canadian
comedy-drama that chronicles the struggles and triumphs of the Slings and
Arrows Shakespearean theater group. In 2003, she won the Gemini award. Her
performance as Regina George, in Mean Girls (2004) instantly was a hit on
Hollywood's most sought-after young actresses. In the following film she
co-starred with Ryan Gosling as the romantic drama adaptation of Nicholas
Sparks' bestseller The Notebook (2004). This was a huge hit at the box office
and became the most popular romantic drama for an audience of young people.
Following filming, McAdams and Gosling became romantically linked and began
dating through the middle of 2007. McAdams' next film was the comedy Wedding
Crashers (2006), the action thriller Red Eye (2004), and the Christmas drama
The Family Stone ((2005)). McAdams also explored independent cinema through
Married Life (2007) which was premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. It also
featured Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper along with Patricia Clarkson. McAdams
starred in The Lucky Ones (2007) and State of Play (2008) in State of Play
(2008) and The Lucky Ones (2007), respectively. McAdams also appeared in The
Time Traveler's Wife(2009) and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's global hit
Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams was the fiery producer of a failed morning TV
show in Morning Glory (2010), the attractive fiancee of Owen Wilson in Woody
Allen's Midnight in Paris (2011) Then she returned to romantic drama territory
in the hit film The Vow (2012) opposite Channing Tatum. McAdams also appears
alongside Ben Affleck in Terrence Malick's To the Wonder (2012) and alongside
Noomi Rapace in Brian de Palma's thriller Passion (2012).In 2005, McAdams
received ShoWest's "Supporting Actress of the Year" Award and the
"Breakthrough Actress of the Year" at the Hollywood Film Awards
