Will Ferrell
rose to fame as a member of 'Saturday Night Live,' before appearing on such
major-screen comedy films as 'Elf"Anchorman," "Talladega
Nights.' In 1967, in Irvine, California, Will Ferrell started his comedy career
as a member of the improv group from Los Angeles known as the Groundlings.
Following his acclaimed seven-year run as a performer on Saturday Night Live,
he became one of the film industry's top comedic drawcards with off-color
movies such as Old School (2003) and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
(2004). Ferrell also co-founded the popular video streaming site Funny or Die,
and experienced success as a voiceover actor on animated movies such as
Megamind (2010). John William Ferrell was conceived in Irvine, California on
July 16 1967. The oldest son of Righteous Brothers keyboardist Lee Ferrell and
teacher Kay Ferrell, Will was--by his own admission, not the class clown when
he was an student at University High School. The quiet and studious Ferrell
determined to leave his impression on the football field which is where he
established the school record for the most field goals scored. Even within the
more relaxed surroundings of his suburban home, Ferrell displayed little of the
outrageous, humorous outbursts that would later help to define his career. His
mother who was interviewed by Esquire, said Ferrell was gentle and calm.
"You're familiar with those Matchbox cars?" Will be lining up his
Matchbox cars by himself, and be totally happy. You would say, "You want
to go to Disneyland today?" This would be a tough conversation for him to
think about. "That's not to say Ferrell was a total straight guy. When he
would make his daily announcements through the PA system, a glimpse into his
comedy skills was revealed every morning in high school. Ferrell earned his
degree from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles in 1986. He was
a member of the Delta Tau fraternity, and was pursuing a degree in sports
journalism.
